The Cardinals overcame a 6-0 deficit, the largest ever in an elimination game, to beat the Nationals and they did it by scoring four runs in the ninth, all with two outs. Daniel Descalso hit a two-run single to tie the game then Pete Kozma drove home two more, including Descalso, to put St. Louis in front. They retired Washington 1-2-3 in the ninth to win the game 9-7 and take the series.
