His career was full of memorable comebacks. As a junior he led the Irish to a national championship and a victory over No. 1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The next year, with his team trailing 34-12 after three quarters against Houston, Montana led the Irish to a dramatic 35-34 win in the Cotton Bowl.
