Francisco Rodriguez

Rodriguez enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom during the latter stages of the 2002 season with the Angels. After joining the club in mid-September thanks to a rash of injuries in the bullpen, ''K-Rod'' won five games during the playoffs -- including an 11-10 victory in Game 2 of the World Series -- despite never having won a regular-season decision in the majors. He signed with the Mets after the 2008 season.

Runner-up: Johan Santana

Worthy of consideration:
Darryl Kile and John Wetteland (Expos)
