I'll Have Another

I'll Have Another, the hard-finishing winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, was scratched from the Belmont Stakes the day before the big event. The horse's trainer, Doug O'Neill (right), said the horse had a "little problem with his left front leg" and the start of tendinitis. His injury is being called a swollen left foot tendon. O'Neill said he wasn't sure how or when I'll Have Another was injured. The horse would have been attempting to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. I'll Have Another, who opened as a 4-5 favorite to win the Belmont, becomes the third horse to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown and then not start the Belmont Stakes. Bold Venture in 1936 and Burgoo King in 1932 were the others.
