With a crowded outfield and Jim Thome at DH, dealing for Griffey doesn't make a lot of sense for the White Sox given the 20-year veteran's .245 batting average this season, the worst of his career. The Reds will pay the outfielder's salary and get infielder Danny Richar and right-handed pitcher Nick Masset, while Griffey gets a chance at his first World Series.
