Andy Roddick retires

In a relatively surprising move, Roddick announced on his 30th birthday the U.S. Open would be his final tournament. The 2003 Open champ went on to win two more matches over Bernard Tomic and Fabio Fognini, but ran into big-hitting Argentine Juan Martin del Potro in the fourth round. After carrying U.S. men's tennis as a regular in the top 10 for more than a decade, Roddick ends his career as a former No. 1 with 32 singles titles and a match record of 612-213.

Here are some other memorable moments through the years at the U.S. Open.
