After starting off the 1969 season 18-23, the Mets caught fire, winning 82 of their final 121 games including 24 of their last 32. New York won the National League East in the inaugural season of divisional play and continued its hot streak in the playoffs en route to a World Series. Not bad for a team that lost 101 games two seasons earlier.
