Ryan Clark: $40,000
Steelers safety
Clark was fined for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Ravens' tight end Ed Dickson in Week 9. Although Clark was called for a penalty after the hit, he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin used the hit as an example of a good, clean hit during film review. Clark was also fined $15,000 for a hit on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski a week earlier. At the time, Clark told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he was thankful for the league's concern. "They're really setting high standards for fair play," said Clark of the NFL. "They're also setting high standards for keeping players healthy, safe. And that's something we as players wanted implemented."
Clark's fine is the highest for a player this season. Here are the other fines for hits in 2011, starting with the most recent.
