Rayman Origins

Publisher: Ubisoft
Systems: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

When Nintendo relegated its arsenal of platform games to the low-rez Wii, we were forced to imagine what a top-notch 2D side-scrolling game could like in HD. We might soon see Mario in HD when the Wii U is released, but thankfully we don't have to wait anymore for an amazing looking platform adventure. Rayman Origins answers the call, and is simply one of the most gorgeous games you'll see this year. The character and level designs ooze creativity and imagination, and the gameplay is addictive and challenging. As you advance you'll unlock new abilities, which you'll need to survive the perilous levels. The visual style of Rayman is sure to appeal to kids, but make no mistake, this game requires a certain degree of skill as you'll encounter tougher bosses and increasingly frenetic action. The game supports local co-op up to four players, though the sweet spot is two-player action.

Score: 10 out of 10
