There were 45,344 participants going across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Staten Island to Brooklyn at the start of the 2010 New York City Marathon on Nov. 7. The event was won by Gebre Gebremariam, a 26-year-old first time marathoner from Ethiopia, in a time of 2 hours 8 minutes and 14 seconds. Here's a look at other SI photos from above over the years.
