Scott Stevens

Scott Stevens was known as "The Captain" during his 13 seasons in New Jersey and is widely regarded as the hardest hitter of his era, if not all time While anchoring the defense on three Stanley Cup-winning Devils teams, Stevens stepped up in huge moments, exemplified by his fearlessness when it came to laying his body on superstar offensive threats such as the Flyers' Eric Lindros in the 2000 Eastern Conference Finals or Paul Kariya of the Mighty Ducks in the 2003 Stanley Cup Final. His number was retired by the Devils on Feb. 3, 2006.
