Finally, the wait is over. In his fifth appearance in a major final, Andy Murray broke through with a thrilling 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 win over Novak Djokovic, ending Great Britain's 76-year Grand Slam title drought. The match stretched nearly five hours and included the longest tiebreaker ever in a U.S. Open final, a 22-point exchange that Murray won to seal the opening set. The title caps off a strong summer for the 25-year-old, one that saw Murray reach the final at Wimbledon, win Olympic gold and finally capture his first career Grand Slam title in New York.
