28-year-old Florida State quaterback Chris Weinke was problably second only to Sugar Bowl nemesis Michael Vick as the most unlikely success story of last season. Weinke enrolled at FSU in 1997 after spending six years toiling in baseball's minor leagues, then suffered a near career-ending neck injury against Wake Forest toward the end of the 1998 season. After leading the Seminoles to an unbeaten 1999-2000 season, Weinke shocked everyone (including his own family) by deciding to return to school for a shot to repeat as the national champions.
