To say that Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick had a charmed season in 1999 might just be understating the situation. A redshirt freshman last season, Vick emerged from redshirt obscurity to lead all Division I quarterbacks with a 180.4 rating, second-best in NCAA history. Vick finished third in the 1999 Heisman voting with 319 points, tying Herschel Walker and Clint Castleberry for the highest finish by a freshman in Heisman history.
