Wednesday marked the final day of course preparation for the 125 PGA Tour and 25 club professionals vying for the Wanamaker Trophy. Five-time champion Jack Nicklaus learned the heart-saddening news that his mother passed away in Columbus, Ohio, but vowed to play the tournament in her honor. The tournament's focal point, Tiger Woods, continued with business as usual, while the rest of the field took one more loop on the 7,167-yard Valhalla track to try and keep pace.
