U.S. Open Championship

Week two of the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, New York proved to be more exciting than the first. On the women’s side, the first All-American final since 1979 took place between Venus Williams and Lindsay Davenport. Venus claimed the title her sister, Serena, won last year with a straight sets win. The hard-hitting women’s final was equally matched in the men’s championship, which featured two of the biggest servers in the game. Upstart Russian Marat Safin defeated 13-time Grand Slam champion Pete Sampras in straight sets for his first Grand Slam title. Click on the images below for some of the sights from the exciting U.S. Open championship.
