1926: Alabama 20, Washington 19. Considered a landmark event for Southern football, coach Wallace Wade's Alabama squad became the first from its region to play in the Rose Bowl and was considered a heavy underdog beforehand. But after rallying from a 12-0 deficit to stun the Huskies, the Tide were treated as conquering heroes, their train greeted by admirers all the way home to Tuscaloosa.
