1946: No. 2 Alabama 34, No. 11 USC 14. In what is to this point the last Rose Bowl game to feature a non-Big Ten or Pac-10 school, the Tide handed the Trojans their first loss in nine Rose Bowls. Alabama star Harry Gilmer had made his reputation as a terrific passer, but in this game threw only 11 times, instead torching the Trojans with 116 rushing yards.
