1956: No. 2 Michigan State 17, No. 4 UCLA 14. In one of the most dramatic finishes in Rose Bowl history, the Spartans prevailed on David Kaiser's 41-yard field goal with seven seconds left. The Bruins hurt themselves late with an intentional grounding penalty that pushed them back to their own 1-yard line, and interference on the subsequent punt, setting up the Spartans' winning drive at UCLA's 19.
