Sept. 6, 1998

Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch (pictured) and Louisville QB Chris Redman combine for 866 yards and 11 touchdowns in a 68-34 Wildcats victory. Couch, playing in the high-flying offense of Hal Mumme and future Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, winds up throwing for 4,275 yards and finishing fourth in the Heisman race, while the Cardinals, just a year removed from a 1-10 campaign, wind up going 7-5 and leading the nation in total offense under the spread attack installed by head coach John L. Smith and then-coordinator Bobby Petrino.
