Steve Francis caused quite a stir when he refused to play for Vancouver, which drafted him second overall in the 1999 NBA Draft. He was eventually dealt to Houston and immediately made an impact on a Rockets team filled with aging veterans and in desperate need of an identity. Francis became the first rookie to lead the Rockets in points, assists and steals. He shared honors with Elton Brand as 1999-2000 Schick Rookie of the Year and was named to the 1999-2000 Schick All-Rookie First Team.
