New England continued its Cinderella season by converting two special teams touchdowns into a 24-17 victory against Pittsburgh to win the Lamar Hunt trophy as the AFC champion. New England, which played in Super Bowls following the 1985 and '96 seasons, won a berth to play for the NFL title in the same city – New Orleans – for a third time.
