Jets OC: Sanchez has 'leg up' in QB competition |

NEW YORK (AP) Newly hired New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg says Mark Sanchez will probably have "just a little bit of a leg up" in any quarterback competition the team has this offseason.
It appears the maligned Sanchez, who was benched by coach Rex Ryan late last season, will remain with the Jets, in large part due to the $8.25 million in guarantees he's owed this year. But Mornhinweg, who is replacing the fired Tony Sparano, says Monday in a conference call that Sanchez has "a lot of strengths" and balks at the suggestion that the quarterback needs to be "fixed."
Defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman, promoted from secondary coach to replace Mike Pettine, has "no comment" on trade speculation involving cornerback Darrelle Revis and "we coach the guys we have."
