Deadline Disaster

The seemingly cursed Islanders are in the headlines again for all the wrong reasons. GM Garth Snow (near left) was heavily criticized for the October 2013 deal that sent fan favorite Matt Moulson, a conditional 2014 first rounder and a 2015 second rounder to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek (26), a pending UFA. Vanek later refused a seven-year, $50 million offer to stay with the team, which had gone into an injury-riddled, season-killing tailspin after making the playoffs for the first time in six years. Snow came under more fire when he grossly miscalculated Vanek's value at the 2014 trade deadline and ended up with dicey prospect Sebastian Collberg and a conditional 2014 second-rounder from Montreal. Once more, the flickering hopes of Isles fans had been dealt yet another blow.

Here, we take a look back at all that has gone wrong for this once proud and dynastic franchise for many, many, many years.
