Tian wins men's platform gold to cap China record
Tian Liang was determined to put China in the Olympic record book. All he had to do was beat his sychronized teammate, Hu Jia. Tian and Hu took turns scoring perfect 10s in the 10-meter platform Saturday to finish first and second, respectively, in the Sydney Games' final diving event. Tian's gold was a record fifth for the Chinese, who won 10 medals overall. Dmitry Sautin of Russia won the bronze. Mark Ruiz completed a disappointing Olympics for the Americans with a sixth-place finish.
