U.S. defeats Japan to win gold medal
It wasn't supposed to be this hard to get to the gold medal game. But it's the end result that counts and the United States softball team finished with a gold medal around their necks, defeating Japan 2-1 Tuesday. With the help of a cleansing ceremony and an offensive spark from Stacey Nuveman, the team went from almost being the biggest American upset story of the Games to the one of the most compelling.
