Under way Down Under

It didn’t take long for the competition to heat up at the 2000 Summer Games. In the first men’s soccer game of the Olympics, defending gold medalist Nigeria salvaged a 3-3 draw with Honduras, scoring a goal in the 78th minute and one in stoppage time. In other group play action, the U.S. played to a 2-2 tie with the Czech Republic.
