Eastern powers

Men's gymnastics is shaping up, as expected, to be a battle of the Asian continent. As NBC prime-time coverage heats up with Monday's team finals, look for China, Russia and Japan on the medal stand -- if you agree with Sports Illustrated's medal picks. Meanwhile, more hardware is on the line at the pool, where 200-meter freestyle world record holder Ian Thorpe tries to take gold and better the mark he set in Sydney in May. Evening coverage gets under way at 7 p.m. ET/PT, part of 8 1/2 hours of Olympic television on NBC.
