If the swimming world didn’t know him before, they do now. Pieter van den Hoogenband -- better known as the Flying Dutchman -- won his second gold medal of the 2000 Games Wednesday. The 22-year-old outswam an all-star field in the 100-meter freestyle that included two-time defending Olympic champion Alexander Popov of Russia, who finished second, and two-time gold medalist Gary Hall of the United States, who took the bronze. The three medalists meet again Friday in the 50-meter freestyle.
