Maurice Greene Maurice Greene failed to qualify in the 200 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Trials in July. Tom Hauck/Allsport

On your mark, set ...

After seven days of waiting, track and field fans, your time has come. The oval in Sydney's Olympic Stadium is set to be christened Friday with a full schedule of early heats and a pair of finals -- in men's shot put and the 20-kilometer walk. America's fastest duo takes to the track -- but not in the same event, as Maurice Greene starts his quest for gold in the 100 meters and Michael Johnson eyes a repeat in the 400. NBC's prime-time coverage hits the air at 7 p.m. EST/PST with Johnson, Greene, and a host of tennis, swimming and basketball action.
