While a rag-tag band of ballplayers were beating two-time Olympic baseball champion Cuba, an unknown and relatively unaccomplished American wrestler faced one of the greatest Olympians ever. Two streaks ended when pitcher Ben Sheets led the U.S. to gold over Cuba, and Russian super-heavyweight Alexander Karelin -- who had never lost on his way to three straight Greco-Roman wrestling titles -- met his match in 29-year old Rulon Gardner.
