Julie Foudy Julie Foudy hoists the Gold Cup after her U.S. team downed Brazil 1-0 in the final game in July. Al Bello/Allsport

Back in the medals again

Despite the U.S. women's soccer team's decorated history, an appearance in Thursday night's gold medal match isn't a foregone conclusion. The likes of Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain have their sights set on gold, but to make it this far they'll have to battle out of a pool that includes world powers China and Norway. NBC coverage should stay lively as the Games near an end, with soccer, boxing semifinals, the singles final in men's tennis and Marion Jones' five-gold quest on the line in the women's 200 meters.
