Missing Mario formation

Ailing Lemieux rests up for Monday game vs. Czechs

PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Mario Lemieux sat out Canada's final-round Olympic match against Germany on Sunday night to rest his sore hip.

Lemieux, the Canadian captain, took the advice of executive director Wayne Gretzky and rested the hip which has limited his play and effectiveness in the NHL this season. Lemieux was ineffective on Friday in Canada's 5-2 loss to Sweden.

Canada expects Lemieux to be back in the lineup for Monday's game against the Czech Republic. Ryan Smyth was added to Canada's lineup in Lemieux's place.
