RULES
Start
After an audio and visual signal is submitted, the competitor has to start within 30 seconds. They must cross a clearly visible starting line, which triggers the first time recording. The slider may accelerate the sled by pushing, and any additional help during the starting procedure is prohibited. Athletes wear special shoes that have a maximum of eight spikes to aid them in the start. The spikes may not exceed 7 mm in length.
Runs
Athletes complete two runs timed to a hundredth of a second. The individual with the fastest total time wins. Ties are permitted.
The starting order in the first run is based on a draw, and the order of the second heat is based on the first run's results. Competitors start the second run the reverse order of their time, so the individual with the fastest time in the first run will go last.
Within 20 minutes of the start, athletes may not work on the sled or runners. A control runner is exposed to the air 1 hour before the start of the competition. The difference between a runner's temperature and the control value must not exceed 4 degrees Celsius, which means competitors cannot try to gain an unfair advantage by heating their equipment.
Officials weigh the sleds at the finish line to make sure they fall within the requirements.
