Michelle Kwan was the favorite. Irina Slutskaya was the challenger. But Thursday was Sarah Hughes' night. The 16-year-old American won the women's figure skating title. Hughes came into the free skate in fourth -- arguably out of gold medal contention -- but skated a near perfect program. Kwan faltered and Slutskaya struggled, and a tiebreaker sent Hughes to the top of the podium.
