Games, finishing .011 behind two-time gold medalist Armin Zoeggeler. Demtschenko, on the national team since 1992, placed
ninth in singles in the 1994 Olympics, was disqualified in Nagano four years later and took fifth in Salt Lake City in '02.
Competing for the Unified Team in the 1992 Albertville Games, Demtschenko took eighth in men’s doubles with Aleksei Zelensky.
The duo finished seventh in Lillehammer. Paired with Semen Kolobaev in Nagano, Demtschenko finished 10th in men’s doubles.
Demtschenko, the 2004-05 World Cup champion, is a four-time medalist at the European luge championships, including a gold
in 2006. He finished third in the 2008 World Cup and fourth at the 2009 World Championships in Lake Placid, New York.
