  • Career Highlights: On the national team since 1998, Leitner was unable to defend his men’s doubles Olympic gold with Alexander Resch in Turin, where the pair took sixth in 2006. Leitner and Resch, the second German finishers at the 2006 Games behind silver medalists Andre Florschuetz and Torsten Wustlich, bring a wealth of experience and success to Vancouver. The pair has won the World Championships four times, most recently in 2007, and are six-time overall World Cup champions. The duo, which won silver in men’s doubles at the World Championships in 2005, won gold in the mixed team event in 2001, '03, '04 and '07. Leitner and Resch won gold at the European Luge championships in 2000, '02, '04 and '06, with a gold medal in mixed team in 2000.
