- Career Highlights: Rommel nearly captured his first World Cup titles the past two seasons but fell short both times. A disqualification during

finishes and was third overall. He also finished third in the 2008 world championships in Altenberg, Germany, and was second
in the 2009-10 World Cup. The 25-year-old Rommel, who slid to 24th place at the Turin Games, began the sport in 1998 and made
the national team before the 2002-03 season. He followed by finishing third at the 2004 and 2007 junior world championships.
Rommel was also a runner-up in the 2006 European Championships, and is a three-time German junior champion.
