  • Career Highlights: A four-time Olympic medalist, Friesinger won a gold medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City with a world-record time of 1:54.02. At the 2006 Turin Games, Friesinger took home gold as a member of Germany's team pursuit and earned bronze medal in the 1,000. She also placed fourth in the 1,500 and 3,000. In her first Olympics at Nagano in 1998, Friesinger won bronze in the 3,000 meters. She is a five-time European All-Around champion and three-time World All-Around champion. Friesinger decided to withdraw from the 2009 German Championships in Berlin to protect her knee from further injury heading into the World Cup season.
