He had 24 goals and 50 points in his rookie season to lead first-year players in goals while tying for third in scoring despite missing 16 games with a sprained knee. Toews led the Blackhawks with 34 goals in 2008-09 and finished third on the team with 69 points in 82 games. Voted as a starter for the 2009 All-Star Game, he had seven goals and 13 points in 17 playoff games as Chicago advanced to the Western Conference finals before losing to Detroit.
