  • Career Highlights: Yamada-Anderson entered the world stage after winning the America’s Cup title in 2005. She finished eighth in her first World Cup season and followed with a fourth-place finish the next season, one point shy of third. Yamada-Anderson has placed in the top 16 in the last two seasons, and in the top 20 in the 2007 and 2008 world championships. She was on the U.S. Olympic Devlopment ski team and earned a full scholarship to compete for the University of Alaska’s team. Yamada-Anderson switched sports after racing 2002 Olympic gold medalist Tristan Gale, who convinced her to give skeleton a try. Not long after starting the sport in 2002, Yamada-Anderson hit two track workers during a run in Lake Placid, and doctors had to insert five screws and a steel plate to fix her broken collarbone.
