- Career Highlights: Walden, wife of men’s slider Bengt Walden, hopes to make her second Olympics appearance. In 2002 at Salt Lake City, Walden
took eighth place. She won the U.S. Championships in 2009 and finished in seventh place (1:28.844) in the World Championships
in Lake Placid. Walden won the silver medal twice (2004, 2005) in the World Championship team event. She won silver at the
international luge start championships in Meransen, Italy, in August. Walden took bronze in that event in 2008 and won there
in 2001 and 2003. An eight-time JetBlue Airways U.S. national luge start champion, Walden has competed in six World Championships.
Her best World Cup finish was third place in 2005, when she became the first American women’s singles slider to earn a medal
on the track in Winterberg, Germany. Walden was the 2007 Verizon U.S. national champion and the silver medalist in 2008. In
2002, Walden was the Verizon North American Champion.
