  • Career Highlights: Sweeney, 22, makes her Winter Olympics debut in Vancouver after defeating her younger sister Emily and Kate Hansen in a race-off in Lillehammer in December. This is Sweeney's second Olympics appearance. She won gold and silver in karate at the 1998 Junior Olympics. Sweeney, who took bronze at the 2009 nationals, joined the World Cup tour for the 2007-08 season after winning the U.S. junior nationals in 2006 and 2007. In 2006, she won bronze medals at both the U.S. national championships and on the Junior World Cup tour. Sweeney who won 10 international medals on the junior circuit in 2005-06.
