Gretchen Bleiler

  • Sport: Olympic Snowboarding
  • Nation: United States of America
  • DOB: April 10, 1981
  • Hometown: Aspen, CO
  • Career Highlights: Bleiler is the reigning halfpipe silver medalist after narrowly failing to qualify for the 2002 Olympics, and she'll be back in Vancouver looking for gold. A three-time X Games Champion. Bleiler won more halfpipe competitions in 2003, 2005 and 2006 than any other female snowboarder and was the Triple Crown of Snowboarding champion in 2002 and 2003. She’s been performing well recently as well, winning the 2008 Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix and the 2008 Winter Dew Tour in the superpipe discipline. Bleiler’s 2009 season has been a great tune-up in preparation for Vancouver also. She kicked off the year with five consecutive top-five finishes, four times winding up on the podium, and secured her spot on the U.S. team with a second-place finish at a Grand Prix event in December and a win in early January. Given her track record and Olympic experience, Bleiler should again be one of the U.S.’s top medal hopes in 2010.
