- Career Highlights: Palmer brings more experience than any snowboarder to the U.S. team, as he began competing in 1985 when snowboards were beginning
to be developed. He made the transition from snowboarding to pro mountain biking and motocross before sweeping the 1985 World
Snowboard Championships in halfpipe, slalom and downhill. Palmer was named USA Today’s World’s Greatest Athlete in 1998 and
earned an ESPY award in 2001 for Action Sports Athlete of the Year. He’s won six Winter X Games gold medals in four different
disciplines, took home silver medals in 2006 and 2008 World Cup snowboard competitions, and was the 2008 Jeep King of the
Mountain overall champion to become the overall series winner, proving to many he may not be too old to compete for a medal
in Vancouver. The well-known risk taker is also the CEO of his own company, Palmer Snowboards, founded in 1995.
