  • Career Highlights: Ruggiero returns for her fourth Olympics games after winning gold at Nagano in 1998, silver at Salt Lake in 2002 and bronze at Turin in 2006. She was named the tournament's top defensemen in 2002 and 2006, with three goals and seven assists in 16 career Olympic contests. Ruggiero represented Team USA nine times at the Women's World Championship, taking home three gold medals and six silvers, and was named top defenseman four times. She averaged nearly two points per game while playing four seasons at Harvard between 1998 and 2004. Ruggiero was the top-scoring defenseman in 2002-03, tallying 29 goals and 54 assists in 34 games to lead the club to the ECAC championship. A four-time finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, Ruggiero won it in 2004 after notching 25 goals and 30 assists in 32 games with the Crimson. In 2005, she played with brother Bill for the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League, making them the first brother-sister tandem to take part in a professional hockey game in North America.
