Danny Kass

  • Sport: Olympic Snowboarding
  • Nation: United States of America
  • DOB: September 21, 1982
  • Hometown: Vernon Valley, NJ
  • Career Highlights: Kass isn’t on the U.S. Snowboarding roster, and he’s competed only sporadically since winning his second straight Olympic silver medal in the halfpipe in Turin in 2006. But there’s no denying the shadow he still casts on the snowboarding world, and it would be no surprise if he once again makes an impact in Vancouver. (As he told Snowboarder Magazine, “If I am still alive, I will be riding pipe (at the Olympics).”) Besides a gold medal at the 2009 U.S. Open in his first appearance at the event since 2005, Kass doesn’t have many recent results to boost his resume, and he failed to crack the top 15 at a qualifying event at Mammoth Mountain in January. Still, his reputation is built solidly on his Olympic success and his six Winter X Games medals he won in halfpipe and Slopestyle from 2001-05 - some using his signature “backside rodeo” trick. He also has one of the more freewheeling personalities in the snowboarding world.
