  • Career Highlights: Whitney broke into the NHL on Nov. 1, 2005, and had an instant impact on the Penguins, collecting six goals and 38 points in 68 games. He followed with his best offensive season in 2006-07, tallying 14 goals and 45 assists in 81 contests. Whitney, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury helped the Penguins improve 47 points, going from last in the NHL to a playoff berth that year. After he slumped to 40 points in 2007-08, it was revealed he was suffering from a chronic foot injury throughout the season. Whitney underwent surgery on Aug. 15, 2008 before he returned Dec. 23. With the Penguins in need of a scoring winger, Whitney was traded to Anaheim on Feb. 26, 2009, for Chris Kunitz, and went on to accumulate two goals and 23 points in 48 games for the Ducks. Whitney has appeared for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in 2002 and 2003.
