time in Olympic play. After Sweden finished out of the medal running at Nagano and Salt Lake, Lidstrom scored the game-winning
goal in a 3-2 victory over Finland in the gold medal game at Turin in 2006, Overall, Lidstrom has four goals and 10 assists
in 16 Olympic games. In 2002, he became the only European-born player to lead his team to a Stanley Cup _ one of four Lidstrom
has won in his 18-year career with the Red Wings _ and also took home the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. On Oct. 15, Lidstrom
became the eighth defenseman in NHL history and first born in Europe to reach 1,000 career points.
