Simon Schoch

  • Sport: Olympic Snowboarding
  • Nation: Switzerland
  • DOB: October 7, 1978
  • Career Highlights: The older Schoch brother has had to play second fiddle even in his own family at the Olympics, but that was also good enough for second overall four years ago in Turin, where he won silver after losing in the parallel giant slalom final to his younger brother Philipp. That was the second straight Olympic gold for Philipp, but his results have suffered lately due to an injured back. That could help open the door for Simon, who has emerged as one of the best in the world in his own right with parallel World Cup season titles in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Simon also won a gold medal in parallel slalom at the 2007 world championships in his native country and medaled in parallel slalom and parallel GS at the same event four years earlier. Overall he has 22 podium finishes in World Cup events, including seven golds.
